What is a Concept BOK ?
At Kreeo, everything in the world that we wish to know about is a concept and whatever we wish to know about them is captured & organized using a simple framework called the concept BOK (Body of Knowledge). Its a framework that helps users in collectively organizing information related to a concept as a comprehensive body of knowledge, wherein a concept can be anything like a scientific topic, technology topic, business topic, person, place, organization. It can be any topic of interest that is broad enough to have a whole body of knowledge(BOK) around it.
The concept BOK framework is simply a set of predefined tags that are common terms. Each BOK item represents an important dimension of common or experiential knowledge that we use to seek or share knowledge, about a concept, at a micro level.
You can choose to create a concept BOK with one of three different types of rights Open/Public/Private
Open: The concept BOK and its contents will be visible to everyone and all Kreeo users will also be able to contribute to it and edit it.
Public: The concept BOK and its contents will be visible to everyone but only the creator of the concept BOK will be able to contribute to it and edit it.
Private: The concept BOK and its contents will be visible to only the creator of the concept BOK. Only the people invited to join the concept, by the creator, will also be able to view and edit it collectively.

A BOK(Body of Knowledge) item is a specific type of information related to the concept. It can be your original contribution or a link to a web page (bookmark). Currently we are having 14 BOK Item types, a description of each type of BOK item is given below.
Kapsule - This is meant for capturing fundamental knowledge about the concept. It is written in an instructional manner and is suppose to provide the width of knowledge related to a concept. You can add as many topics and sub topics to structure content in a Kapsule. The objective of Kapsule is to provide a holistic picture of a concept to someone who is new to the concept.
Good Practice & Lesson Learnt - The term "good practice" refers to those practices that have produced outstanding results in a particular situation and that could be adapted for other situations. You can also share lessons learnt based on your experience and that helped in certain situation.
Questions - You can ask/ answer questions or contribute both here.
Tips & Tricks - Tips & Tricks BOK item is meant for sharing work arounds and smart things to do for solving problems related to the concept.
News Items - This is meant for sharing information about recent events or happenings related to the concept. You can report original news as a citizen journalist or share links to news as reported by media.
Article or Web Log Items - This is meant for sharing blog posts and on-line articles related to the concept. You can share them as links or contribute your original posts.
Research & Statistics - This is meant for sharing web pages and original content that provides research reports, findings and/or statistics related to the concept.
Quick References - This is meant for sharing links to other important web pages that provide fundamental, reliable and updated information related to the concept. In case of technology concepts reference may contain links to the pages of standards organizations, help material, technical documentation, tutorials etc.
Trivia - This contains information related to the concept that may be of little importance, but possibly entertaining and has quiz value.
Books, Reviews, Summary - This is meant to share information about the various books, book summaries and book reviews related to the concept. In today's fast paced world, people don't have time to read many books, this BOK item is supposed to help us identify good books based on reviews and read their summaries to get the key learnings from a book. 
Stories - A story is an entertaining account or narrative of real or fictitious events related to the concept. Story telling is a very powerful learning tool.
Examples - An example is an instance that is cited to prove or to illustrate a point related to the concept. Even success stories and case studies can be treated as an example. In case of technology concepts an example can be a code or script also.
Learning Activities - This is meant for sharing information on individual or group activities which when performed leads to learning about the related concept.
Glossary Items - This contains definition and explanation of terms related to the concept. It provides a working vocabulary for important or frequently encountered terms.What can I contribute?
On kreeo you can share your knowledge in various ways, to share you need not be a writer or a blogger. Kreeo allows you to share even drops of knowledge or wisdom by using one or many of the ways listed below.
Post BOK Items: We all have some knowledge and experience to share in the form of good practices, learnings,tips & tricks,stories, examples etc. A BOK item can be in your own words or can be a link to a web page (bookmark). You can post a BOK item in the relevant concept BOK. If the Concept is not there you can easily create it while contributing, or you can even post it into the general category (we will take care of putting it into the right concept).
Post Web Log Articles: Web log (or blog) is like your personal diary or publishing page, where you can make multiple posts. A web log post can be anything you want it to be e.g your thoughts, reviews, views, events etc.
Post in Forums: You can create and participate in forums of various types. You can contribute to forums by starting new discussion threads or by replying to existing threads.
Post Answers: Users can post various questions in general category or specific to a concept. You can contribute by answering the questions posted by other users.
Post Polls: On Kreeo any user can post a poll question. You may contribute by answering these polls.

You can contribute BOK items through the following ways.
1. Through "Post: BOK Item"
This is the quickest way to post a BOK item in Kreeo.
Follow these steps to post a BOK item:
a. Click on Post: BOK Item
b. In the Pop Up window select the concept in which you wish to post your item. You can select from
- General: Select this, if you are not sure which concept is relevant to your post.
- Existing Concept: Select this, if you want to post under an existing Concept BOK. You can type the concept name and a drop down will show you existing Concept BOKs matching the text typed. You can select from the suggestions displayed.
- New Concept: Select this, if there is no relevant Concept BOK for the BOK Item, you can start a new one selecting this option.
c. Select a BOK Item Type.

d. Choose from Contribute here- if the contribution is in your own words, or contribute as a link- if its a web page you found on some other website.
e. Use the Rich Text Editor to enter the content(if the contribution is in your own words) or abstract(if the contribution is as a link).
f. Have a quick check of data in all fields and click on the "Post" button to post it.
2. Through the Concept BOK tab.
You can use the Add BOK Item menu and select the BOK Item type from the list, or you can go to the relevant BOK item category in the concept BOK Tab and use the Add icon there.

How to Create a Concept BOK ?
There are two ways of doing it
1. Using the Post a BOK Item window; where you can post a new BOK item and specify a new concept to post it into. This creates the concept first and then posts the item into it. But by using this method you can only create a new Concept BOK of type Open.
2. Using the Create New quick menu
You can select Concept BOK from the Crete New Menu which will pop up the following window
Concept rights:
- Open* - Open concepts can be Edited and Viewed by any Kreeo member
- Public* - Public concepts are read only concepts and can be edited only by the creator
- Private - Private concepts will be accessible only to its members, it is not visible to other Kreeo Members
*The Open and Public concepts will be closed for non-Kreeo Members till we open Kreeo to everyone.

Kreeo recommendations in My Trends not relevant
Kreeo Recommendations Engine(KRE) will work based on your usage pattern and profile information on Kreeo (especially the knowledge areas of interest). If you have not specified your knowledge areas, we strongly advice you to do so. You can use a comma separated list of keywords to specify your interest areas e.g. "web 2.0, robotics, computing, training, nanotechnology " . The more you use Kreeo the better the KRE can serve you.

What are Kreeo Snippets ?
Kreeo Snippet is a widget which will give you a snapshot of new contributions to Kreeo, popular stuff, recommendations etc.
Change view. To select list view or detailed view.
Spinner : To view more items.
Category selector - To change between different categories.
Using search
Search is accessible at the top-right corner.
You can type any search query, the results will display in a new Kreeo tab. All matching content from Concept BOKs, Forums, and Web logs is displayed as results. You can click on any result item to launch the relevant page.
The search results tab also displays people and forums related to your search query. It is displayed towards the right side of the search results tab as panels
Another panel in the right displays standard results for the query from google.

How can I use the web log on Kreeo ?
With each account Kreeo is providing a web log. As you sign up for Kreeo, your web log gets created automatically.
You can access your web log by clicking on the link at the top-right side of the home tab.
